A songstress of foresty indie/folk, Ren writes music to say what isn’t said but needs to be heard. Rather than shy away from the messy stuff, she embraces it. Influenced by singer/songwriters Phoebe Bridgers and Lizzy McAlpine, Ren paints vivid pictures through allegorical—yet relatable—lyrics, attracting those who yearn for a daily dose of whimsy. Through rich acoustic guitar tones, haunting string arrangements, and atmospheric vocal layers, Ren crafts the perfect soundtrack for staying inside on a rainy day or going out to grab a cup of tea at your favorite local cafe. She wears her heart on her sleeve, prioritizing authentic storytelling and raw catharsis as heard in her gut-wrenching vocals. Whether attending a concert or listening from the comfort of your own home, you will find that Ren creates a space for your most honest self to be seen, and you’ll be coming back for more.
The one thing people remember about Ren McLean is her ability to cut through to the soul of her audience. Her music gives a voice to those who have been silenced and closure to those who need it. Ren is dedicated to creating something bigger than herself: to destigmatize mental illness and queerness for future generations, and to be a living example that things do get better. Through her music, Ren encourages others to keep going, to live truthfully, and to be compassionate.
From local radio stations to live performances and podcasts, you can find Ren’s music anywhere and everywhere. In February 2025, the lyric video of her single “Nowhere to Be Found” exceeded 1,000 views in the first week of release. Fans have said “Ren’s voice and story telling captures the audience’s attention. They become quiet when she starts to sing.”
“The second I heard your voice, I was hooked. I’ve never heard a voice like yours in the commercial music scene.” - Jon Aldrich, Berklee Songwriting Professor
Raised in Florida, Ren began playing piano at age four, and wrote her first song at age six. In high school, Ren joined her school’s choir, performed at local theaters, and started writing songs more seriously in order to process big feelings that went unnoticed. A recent graduate of Berklee College of Music, Ren, who is currently based in Boston, is recording her debut EP Wildfire, set to release in the Fall of this year.
