House Inside My Head
The Story Behind The Song
I wanted to write a song about the concept of trusting another person with who you really are. The lyrics tell a story of someone who has shut others out for a very long time, but when they let another person into their house; a metaphor for the source of their inner most thoughts and feelings— they gain a new perspective on relationships and life.
This song is currently my most positive one! It's light hearted and upbeat. I like to describe it as a 'cute quirky love song' and when my cowriter Johnny Cummings and I were creating the instrumentation, that was the atmosphere we intended to create.

Lyrics
My walls are built out of the hardest stone
The furniture in rows
In perfect little poses
The blinds are shut and curtains always closed
I like sleeping alone
In my bed of roses
Then a storm came in strong
And you came right along
As my doors flew apart
I had a change of heart
Watched you set the table wrong
Match things that don't belong
But I didn't stop you
Taught myself so long ago
To not let in a soul 'cause
There's no room for two
But you can stay I'll let you rearrange
The house inside my head
The ceiling feels a little low at times
Tend to get stuck inside
The depths within my mind
So many unexpected things I find
With you right by my side
And there's no need to hide
Had my world figured out
You turned it upside down
So I'll help you unpack
We won't look back
Watched you set the table wrong
Match things that don't belong
But I didn't stop you
Taught myself so long ago
To not let in a soul 'cause
There's no room for two
But you can stay I'll let you rearrange
The house inside my head
You can stay I'll let you rearrange
The house inside my head
